Who We Are

Anchor Insurance Company Limited was registered in June 1989 and licensed by the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM) in October 1989 as a general business (non-life) insurance outfit. The Company, thereupon, commenced business in November of the same year.

It started off operations from its registered office in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State and for strategic business reasons, Anchor Insurance Company Limited joined its fellow underwriting outfits in Lagos in April, 2008. Consequently, while the Company has its Victoria Island Office in Lagos as the Corporate Head Office, the Uyo Office remains its registered office. At the moment, the Company has expanded to not less than fourteen branch office networks located at strategic cities across the country.

We have constantly been showing strength in timely claims administration, superior customer experience delivery, product innovation and yearly bottom-line performance. Our audited accounts as at 31st December 2024 shows we achieved a Gross Written Premium of N34.2bn from N18.2bn in 2023, representing a growth of 87.9% and an Insurance Revenue of N33.9bn, indicating a 97.2% achievement over the N17.1bn result of 2023. Our Shareholders’ Funds rose by 27.1% from N14.4bn recorded in 2023 to N18.3bn in 2024 while the Company’s Total Assets grew to N23.6bn from N19bn in the corresponding year of comparison. We paid out N5.3bn as claims to our genuine affected policyholders as against the N2.9bn figure in 2023, demonstrating our ability to respond to any volume of legitimate claims request received.

Our profit after tax grew by an impressive 236.4% in the year 2024 from N1.1bn in 2023 to N3.7bn in 2024 financial year.

Having earlier been decorated with the Fastest Growing Insurance Company of the Year award, among others, Anchor Insurance Company Limited in 2020 added another belt to its ratings when it was honoured as the Insurance Company of the Year 2019 by Daily Independent Newspapers. This was in recognition of the fresh breath the Company has brought into people-friendly insurance products creation, risk management, claims administration, corporate governance matters and corporate social responsibility activities. These are developments which have engendered positive conversation for the Company and the nation’s insurance practice in general.
